Those floors are a bit slippery for dogs, but they get used to it. I'd buy one of the high end products, not a cheap one on especially if the dog is a large one. I don't think Lowes carries the higher quality, more expensive stuff. I Think you'd get much better advice and a far better selection from a floor covering store than a box store. If what you're looking at is anywhere near $2 a sq foot, I wouldn't waste your money.
I'd suggest a good quality underlayment like cork. Cheap lightweight foam will make it sound cheap and hollow........ there are good versions of the foam also. The cheap kind looks like something you would pack dishes in when moving.
